Tier 1: FOUNDATIONS
Day 1
Opening Session - Immersion Activity:
Make A Model
Standard Instructions for All Activities:
Choose one person who will read these instructions for the group. And choose one person to be your group’s spokesperson for this activity when you come back to the main room to share with the larger group.
If you have trouble understanding these instructions, have one group member go back to the “main room” to ask the facilitators for help.
You will get a one-minute warning to come back to the “main room”. If you don’t do anything, you will automatically be brought back to the large group after the one-minute warding has expired.
Specific Instructions for This Activity:
Remember to choose one person to be your team’s spokesperson for this activity when you come back to the main room to share with the larger group.
You will be using Google Drawings for this activity. Your group will be sharing one board. Use the link that matches your Group / Breakout Room #. If your group wants to, one member can share their screen with the rest of the group and be “in charge” of showing the drawing board.
Now each participant from your group should count off from 1-4. Based on the size of your group there may be more than one of each number.
(approximately 5 min.) Participants will need to find or “construct” objects in their home that resemble a sexual/reproductive body part:
#1’s = breasts
#2’s = a vulva
#3’s = a penis and scrotum
#4’s = buttocks and anus
These can be constructed with multiple objects (eg. Two balloons and a seashell to make buttocks and an anus, Two tires for breasts; Cucumber and two limes to make a penis and scrotum, etc.).
Sex toys or actual models are not allowed!
(approximately 5 min) Share your objects with your group and take pictures or screen shots of your items and upload them to your drawings board and label them. You can upload using the “insert image” option on the toolbar. Choose how you want to upload using the menu from the arrow. If you have problems with uploading them, ask members of your group for help. You can also google how to upload pictures into a google drawings board.
(approximately 10 min) Discuss your comfort level talking about body parts with relative strangers and how you might make this easier when talking about it with someone you work with and/or their support team. Split the time between your group members to make sure everyone has time to share at least a little.
When the one-minute warning shows on your screen, come back to the large group and each breakout group will have a chance to “show and tell” some of their model body parts.
