I'm a firm believer in meeting people where they are, listening to understand what they desire, and then supporting them in the way that works best for each individual. Additionally, I work from the foundation that people do well when they can! I strive to empower each individual through working together to develop new skills and abilities.
-
I have been fortunate to work with many individuals who have been heard and understood, overcome barriers, achieved their goals and dreams, and found communities of belonging. It is always an honor to see individuals develop their identity!
-
Two of my most influential mentors when it comes to my professional philosophy and beliefs are my maternal grandparents, who taught me to focus on each individual and provide care and compassion. I have had additional professional mentors who have taught me the value of perseverance and seeing the big picture. They have also established a relationship of trust and authenticity with me.

I am excited to join the Among Friends team, supporting people in living the best life they choose. I have interacted with Shanya through many trainings over the last 6+ years and have greatly appreciated the person-centered vision and approach. The ability to further expand that within Washington is truly a great privilege.

Outside of work, I really enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, as well as watching and participating in sports. I referee high school football and basketball, and we are a baseball and softball family.
-
We have three cats - Grayson (he was abandoned as a baby in our bush along with his three siblings; we bottle-fed and trained them, and we kept him while his siblings went to other loving homes). Bandit (he is named after Angela's cat from The Office). K.C. (she is a shy kitty, and loves to watch birds from the window and snuggle with Grayson)

McKay (my wife) and I live in a home in North Spokane with our kiddos.
-
I have five kiddos, who are 17, 11, 9, 6, and 3 years old. They enjoy listening to music, watching movies, playing outside and sports, reading, and are always up for a good snuggle.

I was born and raised in Southern New Mexico. Over the past decade, I have lived and worked in Utah, Oregon, and now Washington.

We moved at the beginning of the pandemic/quarantine, this made it challenging to develop and maintain friendships. It helped me to recommit to the things that are most important in life, especially family. I continued to work through quarantine and valued the ability to stay connected with others through those interactions.

McKay and I took a trip to Hawaii in 2021, just the two of us. Neither of us had been before, so it was a lot of fun to be able to relax on the beach, swim and snorkel in the ocean, and visit the many locations on the island.
-
I saw Creed when I was 11 or 12.
-
I enjoy movies based on real-life stories, such as Friday Night Lights, Radio, Remember the Titans, I Can Only Imagine, and Crip Camp. I'm also sucker for feel-good/inspirational movies, such as Wonder, A Christmas Wish, and Facing the Giants

As a native New Mexican, I love anything with green chile! One of my favorite dishes is a chicken stuffed sopapilla, smothered in green chile sauce.
