Myles Maxey (he/him)

Director of Positive Support Services in Washington

Hello! My name is Myles! I am passionate about building communities where everyone feels like they truly belong. I have worked in human services for over 15 years, where I have worn many hats – advocate, researcher, and trainer. In my role at Among Friends, I support individuals with intellectual and developmental diversity (disabilities - ID/DD) through trauma-informed practices, family- and team-centered approaches, developmentally-grounded knowledge, and systemic advocacy.

I earned a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies, which I utilize to bring heart and strategy together, creating more equitable, person-centered systems. Whether I am collaborating with individuals, families, providers, or policymakers, my goal is always the same: to create spaces where people are seen, valued, and supported.

Outside of work, my favorite roles are those of devoted husband and proud dad to five amazing kids, who keep life busy, joyful, and just the right amount of chaotic. My family is truly what inspires my dedication to creating a world where all individuals are welcomed, heard, and celebrated. At the heart of all I do, I believe that authentic human connection and strong relationships are what truly enrich lives and can transform systems.
