Puberty vs. Adolescence

Description:

Puberty and Adolescence are not the same thing.  This training will help you learn how to separate puberty from adolescence as two different processes, but understand the importance of each.  We’ll discuss aspects of brain development, body changes, and social, emotional, and moral development. We will also talk about a person’s emerging sexuality, sexual and gender identity, and healthy sexual development.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the difference between puberty and adolescence

  • Discover the physical and physiological changes that occur in the teen years

  • Identify the psychological and emotional changes a person goes through during this time

  • Prepare for a person’s emerging sexuality

  • Understand gender identity as separate from sexual orientation

  • Recognize the need to prepare someone for sexual health and development

Continuing Education Credits:

  • Approved for CEUs for Oregon Foster Care and Long-Term Care Providers

  • Approved for CEs for Washington State Long-Term Care Workers through Training Program Among Friends, LLC (WA753791) under DSHS CE Approval Code

Available Formats:

  • Fast Track (1.5 hours) - between 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm PT

  • Half Day (3 hours) - between 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm PT

  • Full Day (6 hours) - 9am-4pm PT with an hour lunch
